I can’t put in words how much I love 2016! After becoming a Nikon ambassador earlier this year, I found out about this amazing news on October 7th. Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to share it with the world. Here’s what poured out of my head before I fell asleep that night in front of the computer
It’s Friday night and I just parked my car somewhere in Montenegro after an 8hr drive to cover my last wedding in 2016. A thriller year that had me holding my breath while I tried to reach for the surface most of the time. I’ve witnessed love, desire, and emotion materialised in so many forms. It has been, by far, one of the best and most productive years of my life. No doubt about it! Today, with no particular reason, I felt like the world is turning a bit slower than normal. As I listened to a random podcast in my car, my mind slowly drifted back to my childhood years. This happens every once in a while and, generally, reflects on a change that’s bound to happen. This is my safe zone.
Ever since I was a kid I’ve set high goals for myself. Both privately and, later in life, professionally. A greedy habit of setting targets and endlessly striving towards something. A habit that grows on you like rust on a shipwreck. And today, right before going to bed, I have reached yet another milestone. One that means so much to me as it’s a form of recognition both from friends and colleagues I admire, and on the other hand – industry professionals.
Today my work has been selected among over 200 nominees as one of Rangefinder’s 30 rising stars of wedding photography.
Whatever I try to put in words won’t come close to what it feels like being in this place right at this moment. It’s time to soak it in and let it all out for a while. Time to clear out the rust and start fresh. I can’t wait to see what next year has in store! But, before I jump to distant future, there are two wonderful people waiting on me to shoot their wedding tomorrow.
At this very moment heart is full. My soul is happy as a pig in the mud. I will not let a single thank you note go by without her. She’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of. My rock and my piece of heaven. I would never make it this far without you. Huge thank you is due to my colleagues and friends who took the time to review my image submission and help me out with the selection. I owe a huge hug to all my friends, clients and followers. Free hugs if you catch me somewhere these days (plus beer!) Last but not least – big shout out to the amazing talent that shares this year’s Rangefinder’s 30 rising stars of wedding photography title with me. It’s a real privilege to be amongst such kind, generous and heartwarming people. To friends and colleagues who weren’t nominated or didn’t make it – never give up. It is a recognition, but it’s not something you should value yourself or your work by. Love you all! Enjoy the gallery,
