“I’m sorry sir, but you don’t have the ticket. I can see someone tried to pay for it last year in February, but the credit card was bounced.” – a calm voice of Lufthansa operator told me repeatedly. My heart was pumping like crazy as I tried to rewind back almost a year earlier.
I shot a wedding of Sarah&Gehrig in Dubrovnik. Erin was one of Sarah’s bridesmaids back then and got in touch with me for her wedding in Rhode Island. They picked an amazing New York yacht club as a venue. Seth enjoys sailing among numerous other things he takes on in his life such as photography or collecting beautiful knives. Long story short – Erin&Seth agreed to cover for my ticket immediately, even though we were about a year ahead of the wedding. But something went wrong, and the booking company couldn’t reach out to them as they moved in the meantime. So, fast forward back to the day.
I stood in front of a restaurant on a Sunday afternoon with a wedding in a couple of days. On another continent and with no ticket in my pocket. Luckily we had three days to the wedding and I got myself another ticket for 7am next morning, packed all night long and ended up at the airport exhausted but saved. But, at least I had more time for Shake Shack and my favourite tacos in NY.
Erin&Seth are a special kind. They love each other as much as they love having adventures together. Foodies, travellers and hard workers. Living in a great condo in the heart of Manhattan which they left us in while they departed for their honeymoon in France. Luckily we had a couple of minutes to take a few shots in the streets of Manhattan before the car picked them up. I promised more next time I’m there.
Huge thank you goes to my cousin Ines for letting me use her car for a couple of days in Rhode Island. Let’s tell this story!
